GI – behind the scenes

Newsletter – the beast!

Posted By Administrator on June 10, 2009

Surprised again by what I already know; it always takes longer than you think it will – at least if you are an optimist.

I had every intention of getting the newsletter out this past weekend but, had to help my wife finish getting ready for her week of Girls camp (she is one of the principle leaders for what will be a camp of around 200+ girls and women. No small task!). Then Sunday was looking good but an “ox in the mire” event happened and I went out will all of my sons to work most of the afternoon and early evening. And then, to round it all off – I got sick.

Okay, enough with the obstacles. The bottom line is that it has taken longer to finalize the print and play game that will be a part of the newsletter. Calakmul is now complete. It is an interesting “race” game with a mayan theme. While I was trying to finish that off I got the ideas and thought for the newsletter outline.

The next hurdle is the newsletter format. I am working so hard to keep the “look and feel” right for everything that comes out of the GI that it always takes longer than I intend. Plus it is the first issue, so I want it to be good and a template for future editions. It is like the first yard cleaning of the new year that takes forever. But after that it is just a mater of upkeep.

I fear that I just need to get something out there since it is expected and solicit feedback. This may be the best way in the end to provide both what I want to put out and provide what people are interested in. what is their vision of the “GI”? what does thoughts or images does it invoke for them?

Well, Onward! don’t stop the presses!
